Hohner Rockwood 5 Piece Drumset Reviews 4

I got it for a total of $309 (new, inc. shipping) off a store on eBay.

This is my first set, and I hate spending a lot of money on anything, so this was in my price range. It's made by Hohner, a brand which is actually known by people, so that was a plus. I had never set up a drumset before, but thanks to the video that comes with it, I got it setup in about 1 1/2 hours. The snare and the 2 power toms sound surprisingly good straight out of the box. The throne is comfy. Comes with a good pair of Vic Firth sticks. Has everything you need!

The bass drum and floor tom take some tuning to give them a better sound. Probably need to stuff the bass drum with something. The hihats get uncentered often. The main concern: THE CYMBALS SUCK. People are not exagerating when they compare them to trash can lids. The hihats are tolerable, but the crash has no crash! Nor does it have any ride or sustain. They sound very flat. If you're just gonna jam in your basement or something, like me, then they will suffice. Also, the heads dent very easily and the color comes off of the snare head FAST. After about 2 hours of playing, it looked like I had owned my set for about 3 months.

Seems to be constructed fairly well. I've had it for awhile, and nothing has broke or become disjointed, etc. Simple assembly. The finish looks very nice and everything feels pretty sturdy.

Obviously, for $309, you're not gonna get an incredibly awesome set. However, I love to just having people over to my house and jam. For this, the Rockwood set is great. If I were planning on playing professionally, then I would buy a much more expensive set. Considering the LOW price, I am extremely satisfied!!
